Agnolo di Cosimo, commonly known as Bronzino, was an Italian Mannerist painter born in Florence in 1503. He was a prominent figure in the Florentine art scene and served as the court painter to the Medici family, most notably for Cosimo I de' Medici. Bronzino was known for his highly stylized portraits, which are characterized by their elegant, almost detached formality. His works often feature elongated figures, intricate detail, and a focus on texture and color, particularly in the rendering of luxurious fabrics.
Bronzino's influence extended beyond portraiture; he also produced religious and mythological works, as well as some poetry. His artistic style was deeply influenced by his teacher, Jacopo Pontormo, and he, in turn, influenced a generation of Florentine painters.
