Ogham (sometimes referred to as the "Celtic Tree Alphabet") is an ancient script used primarily to write the early Irish language, and later the Old Irish language. It dates back to the 4th century AD and was used mainly in Ireland and parts of Western Britain. The script consists of a series of strokes and notches carved along a central line, often on standing stones, bone, or wooden sticks.
The Ogham alphabet is made up of 20 characters known as "feda," each representing a unique sound. These characters are grouped into four sets of five, known as "aicmí." Ogham inscriptions are typically read from bottom to top and are often found on monumental inscriptions, marking boundaries, or commemorating individuals.
