Colin Campbell Cooper (1856-1937) was an American Impressionist painter known for his architectural and landscape paintings. Born in Philadelphia, he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts before traveling to Europe to further his artistic education. Cooper's work is characterized by his fascination with urban scenes, particularly skyscrapers and cityscapes, capturing the energy and dynamism of the early 20th century.
His paintings of New York City's skyline and other major cities are celebrated for their vibrant colors and expressive brushwork. In addition to his cityscapes, Cooper also painted landscapes, often focusing on the natural beauty of California after he moved to the state in 1921. A prominent member of various art societies, Colin Campbell Cooper's work continues to be admired for its unique blend of Impressionism and Realism, reflecting the transitional period in American art.
