Buckminster Fuller was an American architect, designer, inventor, and futurist, born on July 12, 1895, in Milton, Massachusetts. He is perhaps best known for popularizing the geodesic dome, a spherical structure composed of a complex network of triangles. Fuller held 28 patents and authored over 30 books, exploring ideas that ranged from architectural design to philosophical musings on humanity's future. He coined the term "Spaceship Earth" to describe the planet as a shared habitat requiring cooperative care from humanity.
A visionary thinker, Fuller dedicated his life to solving global problems related to housing, transportation, and education. He introduced several innovative ideas and concepts, such as the Dymaxion Car, Dymaxion House, and tensegrity structures.
