Subgenre of punk art
b.
–
Atompunk is a subgenre of science fiction that is inspired by the aesthetics and cultural atmosphere of the mid-20th century, particularly the 1940s and 1950s. Atompunk draws heavily from the popular science fiction of the era, particularly stories featuring atomic energy, space exploration, and the prospect of a bright technological future. Notable visual features emphasize sleek, futuristic designs, bold colors, and streamlined forms.
Interesting fact: Atompunk is sometimes referred to as "Raygun Gothic," a term coined by author William Gibson.
