Arthur Streeton (1867–1943) was an Australian landscape painter and a leading member of the Heidelberg School, an art movement that played a pivotal role in the development of Australian Impressionism. Born in Duneed, Victoria, Streeton was largely self-taught and began his artistic career by sketching the landscapes around him. He gained prominence after his participation in the "9 by 5 Impression Exhibition" in Melbourne in 1889, where he exhibited alongside other notable Australian artists like Tom Roberts and Charles Conder.
Streeton's work is characterized by its luminous color palette and keen attention to the effects of light and atmosphere, capturing the unique landscapes of Australia with a sense of immediacy and emotional depth. His iconic works, such as "Golden Summer, Eaglemont," have become symbols of Australian national identity and are held in high regard.
