Aristarkh Lentulov (1882–1943) was a Russian avant-garde artist, painter, and stage designer, known for his significant contributions to the Cubo-Futurist movement. Born in Nizhny Lomov, Penza, Lentulov studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture and later at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. He gained prominence as a member of the "Jack of Diamonds" group, which was instrumental in introducing Russian audiences to modernist trends like Cubism and Futurism.
Lentulov's work is characterized by its vibrant color palette, geometric forms, and dynamic compositions. He often incorporated elements of Russian folklore and Orthodox iconography into his Cubo-Futurist style, creating a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Lentulov was also known for his stage designs, particularly for the Kamerny Theatre in Moscow.
