Albert Uderzo (1927-2020) was a French comic book artist and writer, best known for co-creating the iconic "Asterix" series alongside writer René Goscinny. Born in Fismes, France, to Italian immigrants, Uderzo showed an early talent for drawing and eventually entered the world of comics, where he met Goscinny. The duo launched "Asterix" in 1959, and it quickly became one of the most popular and enduring comic series in the world.
Uderzo's art in "Asterix" is characterized by its vibrant colors, dynamic action sequences, and meticulous attention to historical detail. The series, set in ancient Gaul, follows the adventures of Asterix and his friend Obelix as they resist Roman occupation with wit, bravery, and a little help from a magic potion.
